Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta) is a tough and adaptable conifer, well-suited to a wide range of UK growing conditions. The tree produces male and female flowers separately on the same plant — with yellow male flowers at the base and female cones forming on new shoot tips.

This pine is often used in combination with Sitka Spruce, especially on poorer soils.
