Yellow Flag Iris (Iris pseudacorus) is one of Britain’s most striking native marginal plants, perfect for ponds, lakesides, and damp garden borders. With its tall, upright green foliage and showy yellow blooms, it adds structure and colour to any wet area. This perennial wildflower is often seen growing naturally in marshes, wet meadows, and along riverbanks.
Flowering from May to July, each plant produces bold yellow flowers with delicate purple markings. It spreads through fleshy rhizomes to form dense clumps and can grow up to 150cm tall in summer. Ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens, especially around water features where insects, birds, and amphibians thrive.
Plants are supplied as approx. 10–20cm plug plants (summer height) and can be planted at any time of year. For coverage, plant around 4-6 per square metre.
