🌱 Buy Hawthorn Saplings – Crataegus monogyna Hedging Plants for Wildlife and Colour

The Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) is a tough, fast-growing native tree or hedging plant that’s ideal for boundary planting, rural landscaping, or wildlife-friendly gardens. Known also as Quickthorn or May Tree, it produces clouds of white blossom in spring and bright red berries in autumn, supporting birds, bees, and other pollinators.

Perfect for dense, thorny hedges, it creates an excellent natural barrier. Folklore has long associated Hawthorn with protection and fertility, and it remains one of the most popular choices for living hedgerows in the UK.

Our Hawthorn saplings are currently 20–40cm tall and suitable for planting at any time of year. Planting a hawthorn hedge? Plant at a rate of 4 plants per metre single row or 6 plants per metre as a staggered double row (zig zag).
