European Larch Trees - Larix decidua

The European Larch (Larix decidua) is a quick growing tree, capable of reaching up to 40m. On the continent the Larch is a mountain species adapted to long winters and short growing seasons; in Britain it has a longer growing season and grows quickly in dry areas.

In European folklore the wearing and burning of Larch was thought to protect against evil spirits.

A deciduous conifer it is often treated as a honorary broadleaf to provide diversity in conifer plantations. The needles turn red then yellow in autumn before falling off.

The current height of this tree is approximately 15-30cm and can be planted out all year round.
