Field Maple Trees - Acer campestre

The Field Maple (Acer campestre) tree is a small deciduous tree which grows well in most areas particulary lime rich soils and shady areas. It is the only native maple found growing in Scotland. Growing up to 25m and thrives well when coppiced and used as a hedge on its own or part of a mixed hedge.

In folklore it is believed that hanging Field Maple branches over the door would prevent bats from entering the home. The Field Maple makes an attractive tree with its distinctive maple leaves.

The current height of the trees is approximately 30-50cm and they can be planted out all year round.
